ACM Panels: Everything Architects and Contractors Need to Know

What Are ACM Panels?

Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) panels consist of two thin aluminum skins bonded to a polyethylene or fire-rated mineral-filled core. This construction delivers exceptional rigidity with minimal weight — making ACM one of the most versatile architectural cladding materials available.

Why Specify ACM?

ACM panels offer a distinctive flat, uniform surface that's difficult to achieve with other materials. The factory-applied PVDF coating delivers color consistency across the entire facade and resists UV fading for decades. For modern commercial buildings seeking a high-end metallic appearance, ACM panels are often the first choice.

ACM Products We Install

Alpolic

The industry standard — Alpolic panels are manufactured in Japan and are known for exceptional flatness and color consistency. Available in hundreds of colors and finishes.

Reynobond

Arconic's flagship ACM product — Reynobond offers excellent fire performance options and is the preferred specification on high-rise projects.

Alucobond

The original ACM product — Alucobond has been specifying on landmark buildings worldwide for 50 years. Available in standard and premium finishes.

Metposite

Custom fabricated metal panel systems for unique architectural expressions.

ACM Installation Considerations

ACM panels require a properly engineered subframe system. We work with NVELOPE and Knight Wall Systems bracket systems to create the required drainage plane and structural support. Shop drawings and engineering review are required on all ACM projects.

Fire Ratings and Code Compliance

Oregon and Washington building codes have specific requirements for ACM panels above certain building heights. We work with fire-rated core products to meet all applicable code requirements. Always confirm your product selection with your project architect and local jurisdiction.
