HDFC Installation Process
High density fiber cement panels are typically installed as a rainscreen cladding system, attached to a subframe of aluminum or steel carrier sections anchored to the building structure. Panel joints can be either open (no sealant, relying on the rainscreen drainage plane for weather protection) or closed (with backer rod and sealant). Open joint systems are the most commonly specified for HDFC panels, as they showcase the through-color edge detail that distinguishes these products from painted alternatives.
All cutting of HDFC panels is done with carbide or diamond blades, and exposed cut edges are sanded smooth.
